What Brings People Here

We’re a focused functional eye care practice serving patients who travel from across the country. Our philosophy: chronic dry eye and ocular surface disease don’t happen in isolation — they’re connected to inflammation, hormones, metabolism, and the way you live. We treat the whole picture.

Chronic Dry Eye

I was told my eyes looked normal — but they burned every single day.

Meibomian Gland Dysfunction

No one explained why my glands were shutting down.

Screen-Related Eye Strain

By 3pm my vision blurred and my head was pounding.

Inflammatory & Autoimmune Eye Disease

Drops weren’t enough — I needed someone to look deeper.

Our work starts when the obvious answers have already failed

Most patients who find Dr. Boparai have already tried the artificial tears, the warm compresses, and the prescription drops. They’ve seen multiple doctors. They’ve been told everything looks fine. We’re built for that moment.

Our Care

A diagnostic-driven model that goes deeper than a standard eye exam — advanced gland imaging, blink analysis, tear film diagnostics, and metabolic review when appropriate.

Our Approach

We start with a different assumption: chronic dry eye is a message from the body. “Normal” tear tests don’t equate to ocular health. True understanding must come before treatment.

I have been trusting Dr. Boparai with my eyes for many years now. He provides trustworthy, excellent care. I have always been confident in his care and assessments. I find Dr. Boparai to be very professional and at the same time personal in his interactions with me. I recommend him to anyone I meet that is seeking an optometrist. Seeing him for an annual checkup feels as much like catching up with a friend as it does visiting a doctor.

Meet Dr. Harry Boparai

Functional Ocular Surface & Dry Eye Medicine

After more than two decades in medical optometry, Dr. Harry Boparai shifted his focus to something he saw repeatedly overlooked — the root causes of chronic dry eye.

Too many patients were told “everything looks normal” while continuing to struggle with burning, fluctuating vision, and screen-related discomfort. He built a diagnostic-driven model that goes deeper: advanced gland imaging, blink analysis, metabolic review when appropriate, and structured treatment plans tailored to each patient.

Practicing in Bellevue and serving patients who fly in from across the country, Dr. Boparai works with high-performing professionals whose screen-heavy lives, stress load, and pace of work often influence ocular surface health. His approach integrates structural treatment, inflammatory regulation, and nervous system awareness — including selective use of technologies such as Neurolens and ExoMind when clinically appropriate.

He does not practice retail optometry. He practices structured ocular surface medicine.

Comprehensive Care Tailored to Your Unique Needs

  • DRY EYE TREATMENTS

To keep your eyes healthy, you need to have tears to provide moisture and lubrication. This is not only for your comfort, but it helps with your vision. Tears are secreted by glands around your eyes. When you do not make enough tears, you have a condition called dry eyes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

We are a fee-for-service practice, which allows us to provide the in-depth, time-intensive care that standard insurance models do not support. We provide a “Superbill” for medical consultations, which you can submit to your PPO insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

What is functional eye care?

Functional eye care is a root-cause approach to chronic ocular surface and dry eye disease. Instead of managing symptoms with drops alone, we look at the systemic drivers — inflammation, hormones, metabolic health, environment, and lifestyle — to build a personalized plan for long-term improvement.

How do I get started?

We recommend starting with a complimentary discovery call to make sure we’re the right fit. If you decide to move forward, we’ll schedule your comprehensive intake and any initial diagnostics or lab work before your first deep-dive appointment with Dr. Boparai.

Where are you located?

Our office is in Bellevue, Washington, and we see patients from across the country. We offer in-person visits for evaluations and procedures, with telemedicine options available for select follow-up consultations.

Can I keep my primary care physician and regular eye doctor?

Yes — we strongly recommend it. Dr. Boparai serves as a specialist in functional ocular surface medicine and works alongside your existing providers. We don’t replace your primary care physician or your routine annual eye exam provider.

What kind of specialized testing do you do?

We go far beyond a standard dry eye workup. Depending on your case, we use advanced meibomian gland imaging, tear film osmolarity and inflammation markers, blink dynamics analysis, and — when clinically appropriate — targeted blood work for hormones, nutrient status, autoimmune markers, and inflammation.

I’ve already tried drops and warm compresses. Will this be different?

Yes. Most patients who come to us have already tried the standard interventions. Our work begins by figuring out why those approaches haven’t worked — and what the underlying drivers actually are.

Do you treat patients who travel from out of state?

Yes. A significant portion of our patients fly in for care. We structure visits to make the most of your time and coordinate follow-up remotely whenever possible.
